HUMAN-READABLE HELP

Get Dictaphone working for you.

Start with permissions, understand the two transcription routes, manage a plan, or troubleshoot a meeting.

Start dictating

Open Dictaphone, allow microphone and speech recognition, then tap the record control. Eligible everyday dictation is processed on your iPhone.

Record a meeting

Tell every participant about recording and cloud AI transcription, confirm consent, then start. The transcript appears after you finish.

Start from anywhere

Add the Dictaphone control in Control Centre or ask Siri to start dictation. Recording opens the app visibly, with a Live Activity while the microphone is on.

Manage a subscription

Apple handles purchases, renewal, cancellation and refunds. Use Restore Purchases in Dictaphone after reinstalling or changing devices.

Common questions

Why did meeting transcription stop?

Your cloud allowance may be exhausted, the network may be unavailable, or the temporary audio may exceed its retry window. Check Usage, then retry within 15 minutes or choose a higher plan.

Does meeting mode use Apple transcription?

No. Meeting recording is pinned to the authenticated Dictaphone API and Groq transcription. Apple speech recognition is not started for meeting mode.

How are speakers identified?

Groq supplies timed text. Dictaphone analyses short-lived acoustic features on your iPhone to group anonymous voices for that meeting. It does not create reusable voice profiles.

What happens at my cloud limit?

New Groq meeting transcription stops until the allowance resets, you add credits, or you upgrade. Eligible on-device dictation keeps working.

Can I recover a deleted recording?

No. Temporary audio is designed to be deleted after successful processing or when the short retry window expires.
