1. About these terms
These terms govern your use of Dictaphone, including its iPhone and iPad app, cloud meeting transcription, subscriptions, credit packs, and these product pages. Dictaphone is provided by Amzu Information Technology Ltd (company number 08516330, “Amzu”, “we”, “us” or “our”). By downloading, purchasing, or using Dictaphone, you agree to these terms. If you use Dictaphone for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept them for that organisation.
2. Your right to use Dictaphone
Subject to these terms and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use Dictaphone on Apple-branded devices you own or control. You may not copy, rent, lease, sell, distribute, reverse engineer, modify, or create derivative works from Dictaphone except to the extent applicable law does not allow that restriction.
3. How the service works
Eligible everyday dictation is processed on your iPhone. Cloud meeting transcription is optional and requires you to confirm participant consent before recording. After you finish, Dictaphone sends the meeting audio for cloud transcription and returns a transcript to your device. Features, languages, availability, and performance can vary by device, operating system, location, network, App Store availability, subscription, and provider availability.
4. Your recordings and responsibilities
You retain rights in the recordings and transcripts you create. You give us and our processors the limited permission needed to process them at your request, deliver the service, prevent abuse, and comply with law. You are responsible for obtaining every permission, notice, and consent required to record, import, upload, transcribe, use, share, or retain content. You must not use Dictaphone to record where prohibited, infringe rights, break confidentiality duties, or process content you are not authorised to handle.
The in-app consent acknowledgement is a product safeguard, not legal advice or proof that another person consented. You are responsible for checking the laws, workplace rules, contracts, and policies that apply to your recording.
5. Subscriptions, free minutes, and credit packs
Apple sells and administers Dictaphone subscriptions and credit packs. The App Store purchase sheet controls the product offered, final price, taxes, renewal terms, availability, and any trial or promotional terms. Current UK guide prices and included capacity are shown on the Pricing page; these may vary by storefront and can change through Apple’s processes.
Every eligible device may receive 30 free cloud meeting minutes per calendar month, subject to device verification, availability, and the service’s anti-abuse controls. Free minutes are not cash, have no monetary value, cannot be transferred, and may not be combined with another person’s allowance. We may change or discontinue a free allowance prospectively where permitted by law.
Subscription plans include a stated cloud-meeting allowance each calendar month. Included hours reset monthly and do not roll over. A 10-hour credit pack is a one-time consumable purchase for an active subscription, used after included plan hours, and expires 12 months after purchase unless applicable law requires otherwise. We may refuse, suspend, or reverse an allowance or credit where Apple revokes a transaction, a purchase cannot be verified, or we reasonably suspect fraud or abuse.
6. Renewal, cancellation, and refunds
Apple controls billing, renewal, cancellation, and consumer refunds for App Store purchases. You can manage subscriptions in your Apple Account settings. Deleting Dictaphone does not cancel a subscription. Nothing in these terms limits any refund, cancellation, or other statutory right you have under applicable law.
7. Acceptable use
You must not use Dictaphone to violate privacy, data-protection, intellectual-property, or other rights; attempt to capture live telephone-call audio through Dictaphone; distribute malware; interfere with the service; bypass usage limits; probe or attack our systems; provide unauthorised access to the service; or use the service in a way that could harm us, our providers, or other people.
8. Accuracy, availability, and important uses
Speech recognition, transcription, translations, speaker labels, and exports can contain errors. Review important content before relying on it. Dictaphone is not an emergency, medical, legal, financial, safety-critical, or regulated-recordkeeping service. We may maintain, update, suspend, or discontinue features to improve the service, comply with law, address security, or respond to provider changes. Where a change materially reduces a paid service, we will provide any notice or remedy required by law.
9. Intellectual property
Dictaphone, its software, branding, interface, and documentation belong to Amzu or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms do not transfer ownership to you. Feedback you choose to provide may be used by us without restriction or compensation, provided we do not identify you as its source without permission.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Dictaphone at any time. We may suspend or restrict cloud access where reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, fraud, legal compliance, provider failure, or a material breach of these terms. We will act proportionately and, where reasonable, explain the restriction. Ending access does not affect accrued payment obligations, legal rights, or provisions that should reasonably survive termination.
11. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or your mandatory consumer rights. Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, loss of business, loss of goodwill, or loss arising from your failure to back up or review content.
If you use Dictaphone as a business, our total liability arising out of or connected with the service is limited to the greater of £100 and the fees you paid us for Dictaphone in the 12 months before the event giving rise to liability. If you use Dictaphone as a consumer, this clause does not limit the remedies that the law gives you for digital content or services supplied without reasonable care and skill, not as described, or otherwise not in conformity with your statutory rights.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. It forms part of these terms. You are responsible for making sure that your use of recording and cloud transcription complies with the privacy and recording obligations that apply to you and the people whose information you process.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may also benefit from mandatory protections of the law of the country where you live, and may bring proceedings in the courts available under those protections. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact venkat@amzuit.com so we can try to resolve the issue.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when Dictaphone, the law, or our providers change. We will post the updated terms and effective date here. If a change is material, we will provide notice or seek agreement where required by law. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining terms remain in effect.
