Start with your rhythm
Choose Quick, Standard, or Endurance on Home. Quick uses 90 seconds slow and 60 seconds fast for 6 cycles (15 minutes). Standard uses the same intervals for 10 cycles (25 minutes). Endurance uses 135 seconds slow and 90 seconds fast for 12 cycles (45 minutes). Custom lets you choose 30, 60, 90, or 120 seconds fast and the number of cycles; slow intervals remain 1.5 times the fast interval. Pause, resume, or end your walk whenever you need to.
Version 1.2 is awaiting App Review and requires iOS 26 or later. The guidance below describes that update; the version currently available in your App Store may differ.
Common questions
How does the timer keep running while the phone is locked?
Version 1.2 uses a native Apple Health workout session. Allow Workouts access when requested, complete the permission prompts, and start your walk. Your current interval appears on the Lock Screen Live Activity. Health Workouts permission is needed for native background tracking.
Why can’t I see the countdown in Dynamic Island?
Dynamic Island requires a supported iPhone. Check that Live Activities are allowed for ZenWalk in iOS Settings and that a walk is active. On the dimmed Always-On Lock Screen, iOS may hide countdown seconds; waking the screen restores them.
What if I cannot hear a pace change?
Check ZenWalk’s notification permissions, iPhone volume, silent mode, and Focus settings. In ZenWalk Settings, preview the gentle cue sounds. The 1.2 update uses distinct sounds for pace changes, completed cycles, and a completed walk. Delivery follows your iPhone settings.
How do I restore Premium or cancel a subscription?
Use Restore Purchases on the subscription screen with the Apple Account used to purchase. To manage or cancel, open iPhone Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions and ZenWalk. Uninstalling the app or deleting data does not cancel a subscription. See Apple’s subscription instructions.
Where is my walking history stored?
Walking history is saved locally. Optional Cloud sync backs up supported records to your device account. It does not currently link walking history between different devices. Turning Cloud sync off stops new uploads but does not delete previous cloud records.
Why do steps or distance look different from another app?
Motion permission is needed for step counting. Keep your iPhone with you during a walk. Treadmill mode uses motion-based steps; outdoor location is optional. Steps, distance, and calorie values can be estimates and may differ between apps.
